Testing Force Output

We test your overall strength and power, plus check for asymmetry and imbalances using our state of the art force plate and tension dynamometer.
Â
We'll test your countermovement jump height, your drop jump and your isometric belt squat strength, all on the force plate, finding out where your strength, power and reactivity are. We'll then isolate individual muscle groups and movements to assess for symmetry, with the aim of identifying imbalances between left and right, as well as between opposing muscles (eg adductor to abductor ratio, or quad to hamstring ratio).

Lots of companies claim to offer testing, and then chuck you on a treadmill or give you a bleep test. This is different. Force plates are clever bits of kit. They measure force 1000 times per second, and log the results on software dedicated to decoding what that actually means. This is something that you find at elite clubs, so now you can get the info that the pros get.
Â
I write results up into a report and send it to you, so you can see where you are good, where you can improve, and track your progress over time.

Why work with me
My degree in Sports and Exercise Sciences, my master's degree in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health, as well as my work within elite sport, have all helped me to develop the ways that I train clients. My aim is to support you and help you achieve your goals - figuring out the best way of achieving that is a challenge I enjoy. Your input is crucial, as you are the only one that can feel what is going on, so we'll work together to progress as quickly and safely, as possible.Â

FAQ
If you care about improving, then yes. If you have no reliable way of finding out what your current level is, or tracking improvement, then it's very easy to kid yourself into believing things that simply aren't true. If you've been training for years, it can help you identify areas that you may not have realised are holding you back. If you're new to training, it can help you figure out where you should dedicate most of your time and effort.
Is performance testing relevant to me?
Strength, power and reactivity are pretty fundamental to any sport. Whilst the exact positions of certain sports may demand slight differences, lots of the main things remain the same. With this testing, we'll go through all the main sporting movements that relate to performance, and if there's anything else which you think is particularly relevant to you, we can try to find a way to measure it.
How does this apply to my sport?
Ultimately, the kit we use for testing costs a lot of money, and it takes time to go through all the actual tests correctly. There are cheaper alternatives available using more common pieces of kit, but most of them estimate results rather than directly measuring them, often introducing errors or inconsistencies.
